For a number of years the traders based on the Waterfront at Sovereign Harbour have been hosting a variety of events with any profits going to Eastbourne Lifeboats. Their latest donation of £750 brings the total to in excess of £5000
At a recent presentation the group handed over a new portable public address system, purchased with some of the £750, which the volunteer lifeboat crew can use at public outdoor events such as the forthcoming Carols with the Crew which will be held on the Waterfront on the 10th December. The PA system and cheque was presented to Coxswain Mark Sawyer and Lifeboat treasurer Keith Stevens by Bruno Di Lieto and Stephen Nock of The Waterfront Traders Association and Councillor Paul Metcalfe, ex RNLI Operations Manager who helped set up the connection with the lifeboats several years ago. Mark accepted the much needed equipment saying it would be a great asset to the station and would help promote the charity’s commitment to saving lives at sea without the need to hire similar equipment in the future.
