Eastbourne RNLI were pleased to welcome President Godfrey Wood and Vice President Andrew Collins of Wadhurst Rotary Club to the all-weather Lifeboat station this week and to receive a magnificent donation of £3000 towards station funds.

The club had decided that Eastbourne RNLI Lifeboats were to be one of the beneficiaries of their annual fundraising activities which included such things as their ‘Scarecrow Weekend’ last July. Godfrey, pictured at the helm, and Andrew were given a conducted tour of the station and went aboard relief Mersey class all-weather Lifeboat ‘Royal Shipwright’ during their visit.

In receiving the cheque on behalf of the station Coxswain Mark Sawyer and Mechanic/Deputy Coxswain Dan Guy, thanked Wadhurst Rotary for their magnificent effort saying that “the RNLI relies entirely on voluntary contributions and legacies and without the support of organisations such as the Rotary could not continue its purpose of saving lives at sea”.
