Three young people were rescued by Eastbourne RNLI’s inshore lifeboat this afternoon after their craft became waterlogged and wouldn’t re-start.

Unfortunately when they left the beach earlier the group forgot to plug the drain holes and the craft slowly filled with water eventually causing the engine to fail. Their plight was observed by concerned onlookers on the beach and the inshore lifeboat was launched to their assistance. The three people were taken aboard the ILB and were returned, along with their craft, to the beach near the Spray Watersports Centre.
