Surf Lifesaving Queensland aboard Diamond Jubilee in Sovereign Harbour

Directors, officers and crew from Surf Lifesaving Queensland visited Eastbourne lifeboat station on Thursday 17 Oct as part of a fact-finding and information sharing initiative.
Established in 1902, SLSQ are one of the largest volunteer based community service organisations in Australia and are considered a world authority on beach safety. The group will shortly be attending the 2013 World Conference on Drowning Prevention at Potsdam in Germany where they will be presenting a seminar on beach safety.
Following a conducted tour of the station, the group joined the volunteer lifeboat crew on a night-time exercise in Eastbourne Bay.
