Eastbourne Soroptimists club raised £2,134.23 for the new lifeboat appeal with a guided walk around Alfriston, a garden party with games and a barn dance at Hellingly, a Spelling Bee in Eastbourne, and a concert in Hailsham Pavilion given by young people from Hastings and Rother Music Centre.
At a presentation aboard Eastbourne’s new lifeboat Diamond Jubilee joint presidents Barbara Stanbury and Gloria Pearce presented a cheque to members of the lifeboat appeal team. President Barbara (pictured left of Coxswain Mark Sawyer) said “We chose Eastbourne lifeboats as our charity because it is local to our club and also serves everyone in the community. We are particularly pleased that the money will go to our wonderful new lifeboat”. President Gloria (pictured right of Mark) added “We want to thank club members, their families and friends for their support during the year and also thank everyone who helped raise so much money for such an excellent cause”.
