Reports of ‘screaming’ coming from the beach prompted the launch of both Eastbourne lifeboats on Saturday night
A member of public contacted Dover Coastguard shortly after 9pm when screaming was heard coming from the beach at Cooden. Concerned that someone was in difficulty the volunteer crews of both Eastbourne lifeboats were tasked to search the area. First on scene, the crew aboard the all-weather boat used their thermal imaging camera to scan the vicinity, soon to be joined by the inshore boat. With nothing found after a two hour comprehensive co-ordinated search the boats were stood down at 11.30pm.
To date no reports of a missing person has been received the incident has been logged as a false alarm with (hopefully) good intent.
