Eastbourne all-weather lifeboat launched to assist a fisherman six miles offshore when the engine failed on his 24ft vessel.
Dover Coastguard requested the launch of Eastbourne lifeboat when a lone fisherman in his small cruiser reported he was having difficulties six miles offshore in the vicinity of the Sovereign Light Tower. The vessel’s engine had failed and was drifting uncontrolled in the tide. Eastbourne lifeboat was quickly on scene and a tow was secured by the volunteer crew. The vessel was taken to the safety of the locks at Sovereign Harbour
