Students donate to RNLI Eastbourne

Eastbourne lifeboats were pleased to welcome Senior Lecturer Dr Michael Williams and student Katharina Burger to the station last night to accept a cheque for £823.69 which had been raised by International Event Management students at Brighton University   As part of their syllabus the students organised several events including a fashion show, a pirate themed ball, an art exhibition and several quiz nights with all profits being donated to charity. RNLI Yellow Welly relay reaches Eastbourne

As part of the RNLI’s Mayday Appeal, a yellow welly is travelling between lifeboat stations at Portishead in Somerset to Harwich in Essex by whatever means possible to raise funds and awareness of the charity’s latest Respect the Water campaign. The welly was delivered to Eastbourne by Newhaven RNLI fundraiser Peter Mercer and handed to Neil Kirby owner of the Langham Hotel on Eastbourne seafront. Lodge Master donates to Eastbourne Lifeboats

The Master of the Chatsworth Masonic Lodge 9053 has raised £700 for his two chosen charities during his year of office and donated £350 to Eastbourne Lifeboats.   Alfred Stanley, known to all his friends as Stan, hosted a number of events during his term of office with any profits going to his two chosen charities, Eastbourne lifeboats and the local hospice. Deanland support for Eastbourne Lifeboats reaches landmark

Residents of the Deanland Wood Park retirement village at Golden Cross have been enthusiastic supporters of Eastbourne RNLI lifeboats for many years. With yet another donation their contributions have now reached the staggering £20,000 landmark.   The mammoth fundraising effort was initially instigated by veteran supporter Frank Wellbelove, who has been an RNLI Governor for over 30 years, along with and his wife Jane. Mark Sawyer our Coxswain and Dave Needham a deputy 2nd Coxswain/Helmsman here at Eastbourne RNLI were at The Lifeboat Station Saturday 14th October volunteering their time to run a training session to Sovereign Harbour Berth Holders on radio procedures and how to make a DSC distress call.
Whilst there they were fortunate to meet Ken Scott who was walking the coast of Britain to raise money for two charities one being The RNLI. Ken set off from his home in West Sussex in February 2017 and passed our boathouse on his final leg returning back to Shoreham October 16th.
Well done Ken on your great achievement.
