Both boats were launched last night (Tues. 28th) at 21.12 to assist local Coastguard officers in the search for a vulnerable person thought to be in danger on the cliff tops between Holywell and Beachy Head. Concerns were raised when an unattended car, known to the authorities as belonging to the family of the individual was discovered after dark in the area.
The inshore lifeboat crew searched the shoreline from Holywell westwards whilst the all-weather lifeboat using its thermal imaging camera searched from the Belle Tout lighthouse eastwards. Whilst the search by the rescue services was underway it was discovered that the car had been removed. Further investigation by the Police found that the ‘missing’ person and his mother were safe at home. All agencies were stood down and returned to station at 22.50
