Both Eastbourne lifeboats were launched this evening when reports were received that people, possibly including children, were cut off by the tide at Falling Sands.

Both boats were tasked at 18.12 this evening when it was reported that people on the beach at Falling Sands were attempting to climb the cliffs beneath Beachy Head to escape the advancing tide. When on scene it became evident to the volunteer RNLI crew that the walkers were in no immediate danger and were making their way to the safe escape from the beach at Cow Gap steps. Having made contact with the walkers and establishing that all was well, both boats were stood down and returned to station.
